Blackheath L1s Show Determination but Fall Short Against Folkstone

In an action-packed match between Blackheath L1s and Folkstone, the absence of the forward line due to injury did not deter the team’s spirit. Freya stepped up to the mark, showcasing her skills and determination. However, before the match even began, there was a short argument over the colour of the ball, setting the stage for an intense encounter.

Folkstone started the match with a burst of speed, catching Blackheath off guard and scoring two breakaway goals in quick succession. Despite this setback, Blackheath quickly regrouped and took control of the game, piling on the pressure.

Attack after attack, Blackheath relentlessly pushed forward, displaying clean passing and excellent teamwork. Jilly managed to find the back of the net, providing a much-needed conversion for the team. However, Blackheath’s forwards struggled to connect with some well-delivered crosses from the right-hand side, missing out on potential scoring opportunities.

Adding to the excitement, the strong winds caused the umpire’s hat to fly off, adding a touch of unpredictability to the match. The second half began with Vicky P attempting to sneak on as a 12th player, eager to contribute to the pressure Blackheath was putting on Folkstone. Even a stray tyre seemed to want to get in on the action as Blackheath dominated the opposition’s half.

Despite the continuous attack of the d, delivery of crosses, numerous shots on goal, penalty corners and even a penalty flick, Blackheath astonishingly failed to convert their chances. The game ended with a score of 1-2, leaving Blackheath with a sense of frustration but also a determination to improve and bounce back stronger after the Christmas break.

Overall, Blackheath L1s displayed resilience and teamwork throughout the match. Despite the absence of key players up front and missed opportunities, their performance showcased their potential and determination to succeed. With continued hard work and focus, there’s no doubt that Blackheath will come back stronger in their future matches.

POM Amelie for superb defending and forward play.
DOD Amelia for spraining her ankle minutes before the match…
