Folkstone (0-3) BEHC 1’s

Blackheath W1 went on a road trip to Folkestone for their final game of 2023/24. With a few too many results not going their way this season, they were raring to finish on a high & bag 3 points. With Stan resting her legs for the Brighton marathon the next day, Evie heroically took on the centre back role despite having a half marathon to run the next day..
Unsettled by this surprise change of position, Vicky P tried to impress her favourite umpire with her tackling on the left flank but with little effect. It looked like cards would be shown but Evie was the first to take a break after over zealously returning a ball to the oppo. Folkestone tried to attack but Blackheath soaked up the pressure with ease, Banksy even taking the time to sit down on a player for a break. Back to the full 11, Blackheath took control of the game and following a string of lovely passes Emma slotted the ball in the back of the goal. Another for her followed shortly after.
Riled, Folkestone tried to win back control but even with Blackheath down to 9 players having lost Vicki B & Amelie to green cards and Banksy making back passes to Sarah MB in goal, they still couldn’t get in their attacking D. Blackheath continued to press but Annie got a green card for being tackled from behind - Folkestone tried to capitalise again but with the ball falling to Jilly at the top of D they had no hope. Jilly calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner to seal the win. 3-0 - a great end to the season
A trip down to the beach to celebrate with ice cream was in order along with full body paddling for Vicki B & Emma…
