Ladies 1st XI v Bromley & Beckenham 2

Brom Becks came to College Meadow hungry for a win,

their team was full of teenagers all blonde and fit and slim.

Brom Becks started brightly putting Ceri under pressure,

youth was no match for experience; Ceri tackled them at leisure...

Blackheath found their form at last, their passing was supreme,

they moved the ball around the pitch as if playing in a dream.

George was too hot too handle earning accolade from her peers,

the sound of Richard's "Active!" still ringing in her ears.

The deadlock was finally broken when Vicky turned and shot and scored,

the ball came bouncing off the post - thankfully hitting the backboard.

Blackheath had the momentum, cruising towards half-time,

the performance from our new recruit (Grace) was nought short of sublime.

Netty made some super stops (mostly with her feet).

The midfield passed in triangles - fast and swift and neat.

A break away from Brom Becks was foiled with super human pace,

I reckon Bigsy could beat Usain Bolt in a 100 metres race.

But Brom Becks clawed their way back with an opportunistic goal;

had Blackheath dug themselves into a dark almighty hole?

Panic struck - mistakes crept in - the game was thrown wide open,

the team began to lose their shape and some were barely coping!

Our Captain calmed her colleagues calling coolly from the back,

Blackheath launched a last ditched push - attack, attack, ATTACK!

Our pressure was rewarded with a string of penalty corners,

Rachel then converted and Brom Becks finished the game as mourners...
