BOEHC L1's Remain Top

Blackheath L1’s remain top of the league on goal difference although they lost 1 – 0 to Havering.

MOM: Sarah MB for some fantastic saves!

DOD: Jenny for some dives

All the team arrived on time and were prepped for the game. Well… all apart from Netty who managed to squeeze in a sausage before playing from the school cafe!

The game begun at high tempo and it remained this way throughout the whole match. Blackheath dug deep into their fitness levels which shone toward the latter stages of the second half with Havering feeling the pressure, but alas no goals could be scored.

Both teams were evenly matched and battled hard which resulted in players from each team being given green cards. Havering managed to score in the first half from an early shot at the top of the circle leaving Blackheath on the back foot. However Blackheath continued to push forward and were unlucky not to put away any goals as their keeper made some good saves.

Jenny made some diving reverse stick tackles showing her commitment to the team (although may have caused the opposition to have some grazed knees in the process ruining her look for her night out – woops). Sian, Ceri and Kathryn were solid in defence as they faced continued quick breaks from Havering who switched the ball well. Banksy showed she still had ‘great legs’ getting back from midfield to support the defence.

George made some great crosses and Jenna was close to converting some deflections. Biggsy took on the Havering defence with her speed to beat a number of players. Netty and Sally were unlucky not to score off short corners. Vicky and Jilly held the centre of the field well. Vicky even got pushed to the floor in the attacking circle and had her head sat on. It was an interesting goal stopping tactic and perhaps should have been a penalty flick to Blackheath!

Sarah MB was the star of the show making some great diving saves on a number of occasions and commanded her D! This led her to receive the well-deserved Man of the Match Award.

Bring on the return match at home!
