The sun was shining on the opening game of the 2019-2020 season and the ones were eating to go in their new league.
After a motivating pregame talk including show and tell of Sarah’s hockey inspirations we started well moving the ball round in our new formation.
The L1’s had a few short corners but unfortunately none be converted. There were some good drives along the back line from both Emma’s and eventually one made at way across the D to Hannah who got away a squeeze hit to put Blackheath 1-0 up.
The sun got hotter as half time came and went the score line remaining the same. Into the second half and there were good attacks from both sides and there were short corners from both sides. Kings eventually managed to covert a short corner with some kind assistance from Blackheath... score 1-1
With the score line even the ones dig deep and there were some brilliant pieces of play including some unbelievable traps from Banksy and stops from Sally but they couldn’t seem to work another goal.
Thanks to the super hero skills of Megan disaster (and a loss) was avoided by a tremendous save on the line.
The L1’s finished 1-1 with a point on the board in summer league conditions they look forward to next week and the rest of the season!
M.O.M. Megan - for ‘that’ save
D.O.D. Kate - for the goal assistance
