Not all of the newly minted Blackheath team were present for this friendly against Sevenoaks. Some were still at altitude training camps in preparation for the official start to the tough new 2016/17 season. Annette, Karen, Kate (Dave) and Kate (Socks) aided and abetted their side to a 1-0 victory over Sevenoaks, a goal tardy in its arrival but beautifully executed, first from a pass by a speeding ‘V’ (Robyn) to an equally speedy ‘Zim’ (Robyn) who scored the only, but perfectly formed goal late in the second half. Green shoots of greatness were in evidence with Nat winning player of the match for her tireless defence and clearances. The mids swamped and swarmed each youthful Sevenoaks attack like a murmuration of starlings, whilst the forwards leapt into action at every opportunity. A true team effort!
