CHRISTMAS HANGOVER

Blackheath 2nd X1 Ladies Hockey V Holcombe
The date of Blackheath’s inaugural post-Christmas match came two months since their last match, with mince pies & mulled wine replacing drills and skills. Within minutes they had two winners for the Minion Award, no match required as Ali fell over at warm-up with no observable reason and Gina put gloves onto the wrong hands with no observable reason.

Alas, no amount of warm-up was going to remove the pall of Christmas enjoyed to the full and Holcombe, looking as though not a wishbone had passed their lips, put in four goals for added insult.
There were some instances of play suggestive of great things to come, with Karen, Kate and Georgie doing Man-o-the-Match things to keep the team afloat, Kate picking up a ball from Beth and scoring Blackheath’s only goal and Annette prostrate on the ground to keep a Holcombe goal out. Captain ‘Whiplash’ Nat also had no problem keeping the team on their toes with her side-line vocals.
