Blackheath Ladies 2nd X1 V Sevenoaks Acorns
Saturday’s match started with Blackheath grinding grit and determination in equal measure. Play was all in the ‘Acorns goal area but they managed to rebuff attempts at early goals, until Gina popped one in, left post.
Then the ‘Acorns’ game went viral, here and there, players posting and nipping about, soon they were rewarded by an equaliser.
Stormin’ Sue scored Blackheath’s second goal from a range of passes I should remember, but no, but well done team, because ‘Acorns stepped up and scored another and things were not looking quite so simple for Blackheath. The final section of the game was stupendous as both teams fought off a sudden death loss. Karen was instrumental in keeping the ball going in the right direction, batting ball with hand in self-defence, crossing from right to left and may have helped in the amazing winning score from Sue again, a deserved Man of the Match. Goal keeper Annette kept most of them out with her trusted band of merry defenders. Never was an end-stage goal so welcome and never was a Max so deserving of the Muppet award for boot lace OCD.
