Blackheath Ladies Hockey 2nd X1 V Dartford
Blackheath, who sit uncomfortably at the lower extremities of the division, took brinkmanship to the max last Saturday whilst playing a side of mixed ability but potential to surprise. Blackheath did not take up the reins of dominance and despite a goal by Gina, never really looked comfortable with their lot, however hard all players tried.
Blackheath, come the second half were a different side and after an early pass from Gina to Beth, which she took on the hoof, Beth scored a great goal. Dartford took the challenge and equalised at 2-2. Beth however took the ball from possibly before the half-way line, dribbled calmly, even sedately (Dartford debris in her wake mind) over to the circle and scored Blackheath’s third goal.
Blackheath were running out of time and pushed for another goal to seal the deal. They were pumped and looked hungry, taking the play to Dartford’s goal area but not changing the score. At their limits of energy, the whole team played as one, until Dartford found a chink in the defence and scored the final equaliser.
Man-o-t-Match went to Beth for scoring brilliant goals. Muppet –o-t-Match to “I cannot remember”!
