In our captain’s hockey life there are times when she has to be resilient, go with the flow, take the punches, adopt the higher ground. Take today’s game. Having assessed the developing game, she selflessly started to don the Minion suit whilst playing, figuratively that is. So when a high ball came into the circle, she raised her stick even higher and up went the suit legs. When Folkestone rushed at goal, she created an opportunity for a short corner and on went the two arms, the zip went up indecently quickly on short corner gift number three, definitely a Minion of the Match performance in a match full of Minion moments. Indeed she was not to be outdone in this regard, her adoring mini-Minions duly outfitted themselves after similar or even better moves, concluding the match with a despicable outcome, despite some skilful acts of mutiny against a strong and worthy opposition.
