The mighty 2s
The mighty 2s headed down to sunny sittingbourne to face Gore Court. Always a fiercely contested match and this week was no different! Pleasantly surprised by the new Astro, and huge tunes blaring we got warmed up. The game started with a minute of silence to pay our respects and give our thoughts to those who have lost their lives for us to live ours.
It was evident from the get go that GC were a well drilled, aggressive and attacking team. Facing drag flicks and tomahawks the team defended and marked really well and with amazing saves from Zoe. The first half was very fast paced, which our mids and forwards dealt with well. Quick passes and fast runs gave us some great attacking chances which we were unlucky not to score from. Hannah even scored on a short, but was outside the D so just resulted in her getting TFC. We went into half time just 0-1 down.
The half time talk was tactical and productive leaving us raring to go!
Unfortunately, GC were also pumped up from their half time talk and applied the pressure straight away. We fought very hard and faced many, many short corners. Again there was great movement from the mids and forwards to help us counter attack when possible. GC were so quick to pressure us and turn over and they proved to be dangerous with a couple more goals for them.
We finished the game strongly winning a short corner, which Nell hit beautifully to put us on the score sheet! As the final whistle went we did what the 2s do best and rallied as a team....and then we focused on the wine and cheese night ahead!
