Like England’s defeat at the World Cup, Blackheath 2's were also defeated.

Like England’s defeat at the World Cup, Blackheath was also defeated and not by a superior side. There were opportunities but somehow New Beccs excelled, scoring one goal that spurred them on and proved impossible to match or exceed.
There were some parallels between England and Blackheath:
• England kept going for the entire time on the pitch. Blackheath also kept going, reaching deep into themselves to retain or regain the ball.
• England’s support play was great, rarely was a ball passed without team manoeuvring to assist. Blackheath were vocal in their support and supportive but there was occasional, hilarious covering up of dud passes by calling for “post-ups” when the ball went to the opposition.
• The England defence was strong. Blackheath’s defence was as committed as England and Australia.
• Nobody in England sprinted as fast as Harriet.
• Nobody wore shorts as tight and potentially limb-limiting as Max.
• Bec’s and Nat both played tremendously and were voted Man-of-the-Match.
• Gina and Karen won Muppet-of-the-Match for sheer brilliance.

Seriously, it is early in Blackheath’s season, with a tally of one in four wins. They need to adopt the team-building skills of sportsmen at the top of their game and support each other during tough times. No shows at training, no shows at matches and whatever life throws up at them in between reflect life for the club member today. All members should heed the saying, “he who is without sin, cast the first stone”.
