Blackheath Ladies 2’s V Herne Bay 1's

The day of firework arrived, Blackheath Ladies 2’s were ready to explode in to action with the new formation! With tactics and magnets on board, the new coach explained passionately what he wanted to see and how we should be playing.
With a detailed team talk completed and a very active warm up, we were ready to light up the sky with our skills and new line up and brighten up what was very wet, and dismal weather conditions.
The game started well with passing around the back, triangles and movement on and off the ball. The game was frantic and from this saw some unfortunate clashes with the ball to Blackheath players, with the most memorable being Harriet’s unlucky clash with a ball in a very delicate feminine area, however not to the realising of our coach who ran on medical kit and ice pack ready.
The ladies piled on the pressure and then like a rocket Karen emerged with the ball, to use her newly practised ‘clip’ hit from very close to top of the D, to go screaming passed the Herne Bay goalie.
At half time, we held the lead, however a group decision was made that to hold on to the win, we would change the formation and go back to old ways.
This decision was perhaps our down fall, with Harriet within minutes of the start of the second half being hit on an already damaged finger, which led to confusion by all which Herne Bay capitalised on with an equalising goal.
As the rain continued to fall, dampening the ladies fireworks and Herne Bay with 2 further goals, which lead to the final score being 1 – 3.
