This match was like the making of a chocolate cake with Blackheath forwards fine-flowing self-raising flour, the defence seriously strong 80% cocoa powder and the mid’s gas-propelled baking powder. In the first twenty minutes Blackheath creamed Sevenoaks but curdling soon appeared when Sevenoaks scored from a ball that had strayed off the back line. More cocoa and baking powder were added to the mix but Sevenoaks scored again, clearly taking advantage of a less than smooth batter. Blackheath added more flour and worked that batter until Gina scored from the left adding decoration to the cake that was hard to make but tasty in defeat. Thanks-for-coming went to Robyn for extensive pre-match oscillation between pavilions. Nat, Gina, Beth and Lucy were voted Mary Berry wannabe’s-of-the-match.
