Blackheath Ladies X1 V Herne Bay

... the tang of the sea still hung about them as Blackheath, land-lubbers all, sprung like Spring chickens to nearly score in the first minute.

They stalked and harried the opposition with some amazing runs by Jenna who made a fabulous cross to Kat who almost scored. There were many challenges on both sides but the jaws of Blackheath’s goal were suitably protected by Sarah who made some seriously fineable saves, too good to be recalled here but outcome-changing without a doubt.

Harriet and Georgina kept it in the family and out of the goal, alongside some life-limiting defensive work by Annette and Sandie.

Nat moved to freak out the Herne Bay defence, sitting on their ‘keeper and threatening at all times. But despite Jenna’s determined omnipresence (and providing target practice with her leg) and Kat’s groin-challenged, non-stop limpo-sprints, Blackheath could not seal the deal with a winning goal.
