Blackheath Ladies X1 V Meopham
Blackheath intercepted the ball in an instant, taking it down the left where Gina beat off the oppo for a charge at goal.
Suddenly she sensed a presence within the goal area and was drawn to this other-worldly being whose imperceptible presence was to be Meopham’s undoing.
The shadow to Gina’s left magnified suddenly as it summonsed the ball to it. Gina relinquished possession and a collective breath was sucked in.
Daphne scorrrrrrrrrrrred, “It’s a feeling like no other,” she said through streaming eyes.
New to right-half she dominated the position working the field to maximise Blackheath’s chances, with Sandie and Harriet sending out some great hits catching Meopham by surprise on occasion and giving Blackheath the advantage of surprise.
Sarah was in goal to rebuff many attempts by Meopham, using some very classy moves.
Infact, the whole team worked as one. Megan worked herself to a standstill it seemed but dug deeper, Leslie won the added admiration of coach Richard. All players ran their souls to a standstill, the final whistle was extremely welcomed without pretence, but Blackheath’s win over the current league leaders was phenomenal.
