Topsy turvy game sees Ladies 2s just miss out on victory

Gillingham 5 Blackheath 3.
From the get go Blackheath looked sharp despite some wayward soles (shoes), orphan marrows and under-aged tots testing their goalkeeper’s limits.
Beautifully worked play saw the ball at the crook of Sue’s stick who slammed it in for Blackheath’s first goal. Much joy.
For twenty minutes Blackheath looked superior and made several attempts at scoring.
Then G’ham saw red and scored two, but Blackheath moved the ball around with such verve and finesse, stand up Harriett, Kat and Sian, that Nat could do nothing else but score two more beauties. Deep Joy.
Annette was on fire, batting away certain goals like a true pro. Classy.
Then Blackheath hit a wall for the last fifteen. A great run by Nat from half-way at least, saw a sublime pass to Gina who tried to score in the goal-behind the official goal. Gutted.
So then Gina did same to Nat, great run from half way at least, pass to Nat, all drooly and pumped, no goal. Oh bother.
G’ham saw Blackheath’s frustration and was in like a fly to... most things decaying. They scored three goals and took the game. Last name of honey loving bear!
But Blackheath did score three goals of immense brilliance so that’s a victory worthy of much celebration.
