Despite this the dam buster spirit took over and Gina managed to penetrate the opposition’s line and sink the only goal.
Jenna, Kat, Sarah and Sian made some great advances into territory and a few more sorties could have increased Blackheath’s tally.
Nat took charge of the defence and they, with Sarah in goal, battled brilliantly, keeping the enemy out.
The waterlogged pitch was a no-man’s land but acts of derring-do were noted.
Special honours to Annette who went kamikaze with a well executed frontal attack after a tackle that mopped up the majority of pitch water with her frontals.
A mention in dispatches goes to Gina who intercepted a pass whilst mopping up the rest with her rear-guard manoeuvre.
