Blackheath Ladies Hockey 2nd X1 V Brom Beccs 4

The centre forward Biggsy had the ball in the net for Blackheath within the first minute, neh 30 seconds. Life was looking good and the path to victory seemed but a picnic.
Blackheath looked hungry whilst Brom Beccs looked nervous.
Then, the first roll, then the second and soon Brom Beccs sandwiched Blackheath’s superb goal with two slices of wholegrain goal goodness.
Carol’s brilliant goal keeping and defence team’s non-stop battling were but mere crumbs on the tablecloth of success to be swept away. Soon Blackheath could not tell their baps from baguettes, causing Brom Beccs to ‘turnover’ Blackheath’s initial endeavours and ‘wrap’ it all up in a 2-1 low-carb crepe.
Daphne’s team tea offered as solace what looked like warm, familiar sausage rolls, subliminal examples of seamless rolling, but no, they too turned into a chicken & ham masquerade on mastication.
Deserved Bake-off winners were Annette and Nat B.
