Blackheath & Elthamians L2 1v3 Sevenoaks L3

Another late push back and slightly late start for the Blackheath Ladies 2XI saw the women charge onto the pitch in near darkness.
Spirits started high with a fierce first 20 mins, Sevenoaks feeling the wrath of our fierce midfield and attackers. Meanwhile, the defence held strong at the back, keeping the Oaks at bay.
Quick reactions and an optimistic outlook kept both teams on their feet, but with 15 players in attendance, sadly a third of the squad was left shivering their timbers on the sidelines.
However, as fresh as our legs were, confusion over subbing was rife and we lost our cool, letting the creaky Oaks wind their way up to our goal on the break not once, not twice, but thrice.
Then Grace Catmur (née Isbister) tucked away a nice goal for BEHC, but unfortunately it was too little too late and we weren’t able to get another one past the Oaks.
Happily no one suffered any serious injuries this week (sigh of relief from Jenny Seale) and no trips were made to A&E.

Full marks to the crowd supporters and fellow members of the hockey club who watched in dismay from the sidelines (no doubt blue in the face with cold and frustration at some interesting umpiring decisions).
Thanks also to Henri and Morgan who gave us the pre-game pep talk we all needed.
