Fighting of the virus

Match Report 14/3
Blackheath ladies 2s vs Sevenoaks ladies 4s

It was an early start for the 2s this week on yet another rainy chilly Saturday! The team was unfortunately without our leader but we had a competent Lucy to take control as captain!
Despite a few mumbles of fevers and dry coughs we were on fighting form- or so we thought.
We were 1 minute in when the first casualty fell - Nu ‘I’ll be there soon’ Berryman with a back injury had to provide support from the side. This did not seem to hold us back, with a few nifty, swiftly turns in the middle the ball was passed into the D, where Grace caught a little touch- with the ball dribbling through the goalkeepers legs and over the line. 1-0 Blackheath!
Continued clever use of triangles, coming working it up from the defence, meant we again were in their D. Pia was able to beat their defence, pushing the ball on a tight angle, 2-0 to blackheath at the right post!

Unfortunately after a minor lapse of concentration and desperate need for a half time break saw a seven oaks goal, but this did not get us down!

The mood was positive at half time, but our 2nd casualty of the day was putting on a brave face! Luckily after some life saving volterol gel, Nu was a new women!
We started the second half with fire, Vicky once more had it in her belly, belting her way up to the D, a deflection from Emma saw a fantastic 3rd goal. 3-1 blackheath!

With sun shining through- the defensive line remained strong, with a few excellent well timed saves from Zoe we were staying true to form. A nicely timed run up the pitch, saw us in their D again, Karen hot on the rebounds whacked it in, left post BOOM!

A well won well worked game- great effort and work rate from everyone!

Final score- 4-1 Blackheath
Player of the match- Tash (excellent defence, strong and solid, work rate and distribution)
Thanks for coming- Grace (trying to play with the wrong stick after half time plus for potential spread of the pandemic virus
