Denied by the Whistle
The omens were good, a full squad, hockey weather back and everyone on time!
Blackheath started well with neat passing stretching a well organised Ash team but we couldn't convert our early chances.
Ash could and scored from a well executed penalty corner but we didn't let our heads drop and more pressure from us led to Lilly tapping in at the back post to level the scores shortly before the half time whistle.
The second half went much the same as the first with end to end hockey but Blackheaths speed and fitness was coming to the fore as we began to enjoy longer spells in control.
Pushing Burnt Ash deeper and frustrating them, good charges from Nicole, Flick and Isla put real pressure on the Ash goal and we were only denied by their keeper and some heroic defending.
With the final whistle approaching both sides were pushing for a winner but Heath had the better chances with balls pinging off the posts.
Heath thought they had the winner right at the end following a tap in from a great cross only to be cruelly denied by the Final Whistle ??
