We brought our buckets and spades but left our goal scoring at home!

It was yet another trek to the coast for the Blackheath 3s, but all players were fully prepared on weather, traffic and energy supplies after Captain Socks’ air hostess style briefing and her sausage overdose confession!

Upon arrival it was clearly going to be a slow game, with a pitch bearing a closer resemblance to a beach than a game ready surface. Nevertheless, we were there to win, to not only keep moving up the League Table but as it was Paulina’s last game with us, we wanted her to go out on a high!

The game started badly, with the young legs of Herne Bay focusing most of the game in our 25 and, despite brilliant efforts from our back line, Herne Bay were rewarded with 1 goal in the 1st half.

By the 2nd half, Blackheath enjoyed more time in the Herne Bay’s 25 and more importantly in their D! At one point, two Herne Bay players fell at Beth’s feet as she sprinted up the middle of the pitch. Sadly though, it was not meant to be and the young legs of Herne Bay striked again!

Despite Abi’s best intentions to win DOTD by falling on the goalie and screeching, it was awarded to Mirza for breaking down on the way to the game and being forced to buy new brake pads just to make it all the way. That's Coach commitment!

MOTM was awarded to Mufasa for her amazing support in the mid position, and putting us all to shame with her half marathon run the night before.

Whilst we didn’t manage to send Paulina off with a win, we did all enjoy a healthy portion of fish and chips at the beach as a final hurrah and luckily we did not lose Alli to the great English Channel!
Paulina - we wish you all the best!
