Grave result against Gravesend

Saturday's match against Gravesend started with such high spirits. The team were pumped during the pre game warm up and excited for, what could potentially be, our last league game of the season. Daphne braved the cold weather after illness the last few days and was raring to go!

We started strong with first push back and lots of possession of the ball in the first few minutes. Despite some strong hits at goal we failed to get it in with some excellent saves by their keeper. Gravesend quickly stepped up the pressure and scored an early goal.

Gravesend had 2 particularly strong players in the middle who managed to score multiple goals in the first half. With 3 Gravesend players on each of our midfield, Carmel moved into the mid-field to give us extra strength but it became increasingly difficult to break through their centre players. Unfortunately we still hadn't scored, despite Sue and Nicky getting some near misses.

A motivational team talk from Karen helped us stay focused on the game in hand for the second half but unfortunately the goal gap was too big and we couldn't bring it back. The game finished on 8-0 but that didn't deter our celebrations during teas. Beers, Wine and Cider was had all washed down with a lot of team spirit. A lovely team to be part of win or lose :)
