Finishing with a bang!

My first season as captain and what a roller coaster of a ride it's been! A bit of a shaky start with so many new players but after a few training sessions we soon began to work as a team and the escalating score levels were a reflection of that.

Our final game we smashed it 8-0, what a way to finish! Typically was a bit of a disconnected start but we soon found our feet and the ball was passed effortlessly between the players. Even the defence were brave enough to take a couple of shots on goal!

Man of the match this week went to Beth and the lobster was sported by Daphne who despite recovering from illness managed to come out to play but got tripped over by the infamous Blackheath ghost.

We've bonded as a team both on and off the pitch through various hockey socials and had help from various volunteers; our Coach Mirza came to nearly every match and training session and we had additional help from Rob too. Thanks must go out to Angela for umpiring nearly every match with additional help from Karen and Annette when needed.

I feel very proud of my team for finishing 4th on the table. We have improved our individual skills and fitness but also worked together as one team. Thank you to all who contributed and volunteered their time. It has made strong roots for next season!
