If only moral victories put points on the board! Our intrepid 8, yes 8, trekked to Deal for our 2nd game of the season. After an impressive 3-0 win last week, sights were set high and confidence flowing. With 2 subs, our delightful opposition had a fabulous opportunity to batter us into submission and run up an impressive score. They hadn't counted on our novice goalie turning pro in 15 minutes and a high back line pushing them out to the wings. (Richard would have been proud of us)

Before settling in to our defensive routine and while the MOTM goalie got used to kicking, they scored 3 goals. But that was enough and our forwards had several attempts on goal at the other end, including several short corners. Nice!

Our communication and passing was excellent; just a pity we ran out of bodies in the attacking circle- despite Daphne's occasional foray up front.
At half time we could hear the oppo's disappointment at only a 3-0 lead. It took them 30 minutes to score the 4th goal and why was that? Our goalie was by then no novice; throwing herself across the goal - on the ground, in the air; belting the ball to the half way line; instructing the defence....she was outstanding and made some amazing saves.

A 3-0 loss in the second half and it felt like a win! We could so easily have lost hope and conceded loads more goals with all the possession Deal enjoyed.
The chips and onion rings for tea tasted sweet!
