A TALE OF TWO HALVES

A tale of two halves as has often been the case this season.
After an extra long warm up Blackheath began poorly with much of the play taking place in our own half. We conceded early goals including an attempted drag flick from a short corner into the top of the net. Who does that in this division? With cries from Carmel to go wide we preceded to attack narrowly down the middle to no effect. We were caught out again in defence with indecisive marking leaving a brave Sandra no chance in goal. In between whiles we moved the ball well with good combinations between Emma, Lucy and Kate W #babies in the centre of the pitch. With many of us a bit under the weather Kate P made a swift exit only to make a return when Daphne was injured late in the second half. A disappointing 5 -0 down at half time.

Moving on to the second half
A good team talk from Carmel mostly about width prepared us for the second half and not too down hearted we began again. Using the width certainly proved more effective and brought Clare and Tilly into the game more. With the defense more settled we kept the scoring at bay with some fine tackling from Pringle and excellent saves from Sandra. New found attacking tactics saw Lucy and Nat driving wide and players moving off the ball led to more short corners and that long awaited goal. Hooray! ( sorry can't remember who scored) well done that player ! We certainly showed more fight in the second half with good tackling and movement towards the ball from Abbi and Carmel.
So most importantly we won the second half 1-0 and demonstrated the team play we know we are capable of and how we must start next week. Well done to everyone MOM Sandra fantastic saves. Second place Lucy for excellent play in a new position. Disappointingly Tilly escaped DOD but there is always next week. Hope everyone is available for that seaside trip to Folkstone, Abbi will send details for the social -wine tasting at the club for those who want to make a day of it!
