Beach bums at Folkstone

The early start, long drive to the coast & the thought of Fish & Chips on the beach put everyone in good spirits. Plenty of giggles were had in the car with Beth, Tilly, Emma & Abbi who arrived to the match behaving a bit like a School Hockey Team rather than a Ladies Team. The Folkstone hockey shop made a killing with Nat & Marion (amongst others :p) scooping up some excellent pre-game purchases. We were now all kitted up and ready to play.

The game started strong and we spent a lot of time in their D with plenty of shots on goal had. When the ball left their D it was quickly returned by Pringle, Marion and Danni to the mid & forward line who were maintaining pressure on the Goalie. We used the space well and the team were really working hard to keep possession of the ball. Lucy dominated her position of attacking center back and maintained her usual energy getting all over the pitch distributing balls back up towards their goal. An unlucky run-away ball allowed them to score a goal but we remained focused until the half time whistle blew.

Some sugary Haribo and a pep talk from Carmel & Danni brought us back onto the pitch in fighting spirit. It wasn't long before our glorious goal was scored by Nat (thanks to her new shoes) with help from Tilly & Kate bringing us to a 1-1 draw. Folkstone really brought the pressure now and JoJo remained focused making some excellent tackles. With 10 minutes to go we were still looking strong but the weather had taken a turn for the worse. Unfortunately the same happened to our game as people realised there would be no Fish & Chips on the beach and Folkstone scored 2 more goals leaving the final score 3-1.
