VETS TRIUMPH IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE

Not much to do with the film of that name more to do with the lighting on the pitch or indeed lack of it. Only about 80% of lights were on at anyone time.

Clearly though this had no affect undoubtedly the best result the Vets have had in the writer's memory (which is already suspect).

Anyway, Old Willies were playing a development team who were unable to contain the power of the Vets. Within minutes Graham opened with the first goal. By the end of the half he had scored 2 more with a goal to Mike E to go 4 -0 up.

The half time talk focused on players changing their fantasy league teams to include Mr Green and to ensure we didn't do a 1st XI!

The second half continued as the first ended. 2 more goals from Graham and a goal from Andy. Old Willies got a goal back by sneaking out of unlight corner of the pitch!

The opposition took the loss very well and said that it was a good training lesson. Indeed the opposition had 2 or 3 juniors who will be very good players.

Undoubtedly we had a great squad boosted by as-and-when-ers Chris, Mike, Andy but the regular Vets made them look good!

Great umpiring from both officials and both teams attitude made it a very enjoyable free flowing game.
