A narrow loss & poor availability brings Vets crashing down to earth after last weeks emphatic win

The Vets were brought back down to earth after last week's 7-1 win against a naive development team. By contrast the Friars were a very solid Vets team with one very talented junior.

For the first 20 minutes the Vets dominated the play without really threatening. A break by the opposition and a very slick reverse shot by their junior put us one down. The score remained unchanged at half time.

The second half saw Canterbury score again against the run of play. Eventually Carni got one back. Despite a number of short corners and consistent action in the opposition’s D the Vets failed to eqalise. Equally the Vets were very lucky not to have been caught twice on the break. The Vets lost in a very competitive and well umpired game where they failed to break down a very resolute team.

Overall a good performance without winning. Once again the Vets are having to rely on 2-3 players (for whom I am really grateful) from other squads. This is a great shame as when we have the whole squad to call on we could certainly end the season in the top 3.

Please make your selves available so we can show the Club what real Vets can do!
