Canterbury Friars 5 – 1 BOEHC VETS
The difference between the VETS and the FRIARS were three juniors – who are “not regularly available” – it was no conciliation as they scored all 5 of their goals!
A game of two halves, the VETS lost the first 4-0 and drew the second 1-1.
Injury, half-term etc. etc. meant the VETS were a squad of 12. An injured Irish Pete went in goal and really did appear to get the hang of saving goals when confronted by the three aforementioned FRIARS juniors in the second half. Richard with a foot injury played his socks off and was an example to the rest of the squad – one moment in defence the next on the attack including a cracking pass from the left for Stephen to slot home.
Everyone gave everything. In the case of Mr Miller - his blood and who continued after being patched up on the pitch (now butterfly stitched and glued together properly).
Overall the VETS can be proud of the way they performed - beaten but not losers.
Thanks go to the Ainleys – senior for umpiring and junior for playing.
MOM - Irish Pete for service beyond the call of duty
