The Vets were beaten in the end by a stronger squad.
Despite a strong start, with a goal laid on by Lee for Andy to slot in, the first 10 minutes proved to be the only period we sustained the initiative. Disaster struck both for the Vets and Ravi when Ravi strained his calf and limped off.
The game did ebb and flow until Gravesham equalised. even when the opposition scored again none of us thought the game was lost. Indeed, Stephen came on and scored the equaliser. As the second half progressed the opposition were able to rotate their squad as the Vets tired. Almost Inevitably Gravesham pulled ahead again. If the score had ended 3-2 it would have been a fair reflection of the play overall, however, as the Vets made a final attempt to equalise in the last 5 minutes. we were caught again twice.
Every member of the Vets played well and gave their all. Tim and Mark had exceptional games, Steve Garth and Irish Pete had their best games of the season and again the umpires had an easy game to umpire. Upon reflection we would have benefitted having Tom Cooper play for us rather than "wasting" him as our umpire.
