Fielding the bare 11 and without a significant number of regulars the Vets started the first half started strongly. The Vets went one up with a goal from Zac and it looked as though they had the bottom table team well in control.
Unfortunately the second half started with an acrimonious exchange between Richard and a Gravesham forward, The game continued with more niggling play from the opposition. Gravesham equalised, Aidan pulled the Vets ahead with a valuable but scrappy goal. Gravesham then" kicked in" and belied the league position attacking fast and positively down the right resulting in the equaliser and the winner. The Vets kept fighting and even after the opposition went down to 10 men in the last 10 minutes couldn't quite break through. A lack of subs left the Vets very exposed without any flexibility to change their formation to counter the pressure.
The two umpires Mark and Karen kept the game under control despite a lot of verbals directed at Mark from the opposition. As Tim remarked afterwards to the opposition it is little wonder why people want to umpire if all they get is aggro especially from a team that couldn't provide an umpire.
Oh well - two games to go - the Vets need at least one win to cement themselves mid table in the league.
