First clean sheet of the season
First “night game” – pb at 17.30
First game on the new CM pitch – thank goodness for the lighting!
First league game with two generations of Roses playing – Jack would be smiling seeing Andy and Hector on the same pitch.
First senior game for Hector Rose
The game started badly for the home side but not disastrously. After 20 minutes things began to click for the Highwaymen, both their goals coming in the first half. David Linton started with a goal from open play to be followed by Matt Robinson scoring from a short corner.
When Hector Rose came on any fears, we might have had for him were unfounded. From his first touch he wove his way fearlessly through the Burnt Ash defence. Amazing maturity from a 13-year-old – the commitment of his dad but with definitely more finesse.
The second half was scoreless – just. Burnt Ash not only pressed relentlessly requiring the total resources of the entire defensive unit, including numerous short corners, and were unlucky to have a goal disallowed due to an over-zealous whistle.
A late day but a very satisfactory one However, we may have lost Mr Hatcher who may have broken a rib!
The dream umpire team of Annette and Jonny did us proud – thank you.
