A confidence boosting victory for our young guns.

Fantastic debut in the Mercian Home Counties Colts U14 League for the BOE lads as they crafted a well earned 2-1 victory vs Kenley. The match fell on the first day of this seasons coaching programme leaving little time to prepare but the lads focused themselves and did terrifically well especially as a majority of the team have just moved to this group from the U12. More to follow....

Under 14’s VS Kenley, 2-1 winners. By Coach: Sam Djavit

We had a very young side out as many under 14’s were away on a school trip, so our young stars took to the field being about a cumulative 5 metres shorter in height, than the opposition. We were open at the back and so were they, so it was an all to play for game from the start. Our keeper (who we borrowed from the opposition as they had two) was on fire, making multiple saves and our defence cleared them well. Charlie was hitting the ball so cleanly out from defence, that our fast breaks were really fast, 2 passes and we were in their circle. Some jinky runs from Frederico and Will set up numerous chances, but our goal came from a well worked corner that Josh Clarke rammed home with a fine strike from the top.

We carried on being amazing in the second half, scoring another goal 5 mins into the second half. Mika intercepted the ball at CM, passed it forward to Will, Will to Ben Kelpie and he cooly slotted into the bottom corner as the keeper came out. Kenley got a goal with five minutes to go, our midfield and defence decided not to make any tackles and watch the Kenley players run into our circle unopposed, which was very nice for Kenley and set up a nervy last 5 mins. BOE’s responded by attacking, going down the right with lovely push passes and entering the circle many times, but the keeper made a string of good saves.

At the final whistle, the crowd went wild and the players spent time signing autographs, posing for pictures and doing a lap of honour. Defensive work to be done, but a fine attacking performance.
