Rebecca Anderson's claims memorable win with final touch

The Tigers came away with their heads held high after one win and three defeats from the triangular at Brombecks on Sunday.
Rebecca Anderson will remember the tournament for a long time. Her last minute strike in the first match against the hosts’ B team saw the Tigers open up with a 2-1 comeback win. Cleona Arklie had pulled the visitors level after they conceded early on. The Tigers’ victory was even more astonishing as their seven had played the first five minutes against eight before the watching spectators noticed the discrepancy. A late arriving Athena Horn helped further strengthen the Tigers and the victory was well deserved.
It briefly looked like the Tigers were on course for a wonderful Sunday when Cleona hit the post in the opening seconds of the next game against Brombecks A, who had just beaten the Falcons. And indeed it was a couple of minutes later when the Tigers did manage to take the lead. However, the goal served to enrage the hosts and they soared forward. Jemima Hambling and Jolie van Harmelen-Smikle led the resistance but eventually the Tigers’ resolve break, with three late goals giving Brombecks A a flattering 3-1 win.
With tiredness hitting – the key playmaker Anjali Kumar, the impressive Georgia Redfern and Cleona all going off injured – the Tigers then slipped to defeats against Tunbridge Wells A and Tunbridge Wells B.
Against a fully fit Tigers’ side the results could well have been very different. Onwards and upwards.
