It was the day after Halloween. The sun shone bright upon the fixed carved smiles of BEs team, counting heads but unable to tally eleven. The realisation that a tough clash was imminent haunted BEs and soon Canterbury spread about the pitch with the disembodied reach of those with four subs. But BEs were not for spooking. They too seemed to apparate about the pitch, stopping attacks then attacking with gusto. Canterbury scored a goal during the first half but BEs goalie Caitlin kept out quite a few. Sandie brilliantly occupied Canterbury, despite a challenging knee. But then BEs Bron went over her ankle and had to hobble off. Nine BEs against an endless supply of Canterbury youth could have turned into a horror b-movie, but BEs kept going, Aoife covering the entire pitch, Lula and Lyndsay knitting themselves into the weave of the battle, Nat striking a ball across the pitch to Gina in the circle, who deflected it into the net. BEs spirits were exceptional but Canterbury scored two more goals and took the treat. Wally of the Match went to Gina for energetic duplication of opposition approbation. Player of the Match went to Nat who was always where she needed to be and used her great clearances to superb effect.
Blackheath score 1-3.
