This is not one for the memory bank. However it could be key come March when the European places are being finalised and medals being handed out. Reeling from a WC final defeat to the Springboks, the lads looked in good shape and on top form. It couldnt have got much worse than the damp squib at Herne Bay the week before. All in all this was a fiercely contested game that saw both sides defend for their lives in a bid to keep the other out.
The game followed a strange pattern, all in all, BEHC had the ball, creating a few bits here and there but nothing to write home about. Hailsham were resolute and hard working with lightening quick forwards and a good counter attack. Every time they broke, BE seemed to chop them down or rugby tackle them to the ground warranting a plethora of cards and short corners that thankfully were repelled by MOTM and legend, James Kelly.
Bar the acts of vilolence and mouthy tirades, it was only Mike Lawrence's attempt to decapitate the opposition centre back pairing with his reverse tomma that slipped from his hands and headed west....... 'He nearly killed those guys'.......probably summed up the day.
The winner came from a James Clarke drag, 3 in 3 games for the PC specialist and oh my how he celebrated.........
A vital 3 points and a decent drink with the opposition who were great fun......
BE need to stay on the pitch and work ion their discipline.
Great to be back to winning ways........
Next up - Holcombe (a) 11.30am - BT ESPN 7.........dont miss it.
