Matt Wilde
James Hatcher
Parminder Mathroo

A coating of early to middle aged spread:
Brett Melville
Rhys Edwards
Adrian Graham
Anthony Sturgess
Rob Miller
James Goldsmith
Tom Cleall

A sprinkle of youthful exuberance:
Greg Broughton
Ali Basham
William Tate
Harry Hodges

To finish:
An ounce of Danny Lewis

Method:
Take the Vets, middle aged members and your Danny Lewis and soak in a generous quantity of Ale and leave overnight to marinade. Despite protestations these ingredients will need warming up before being thrown into the mix the following Saturday afternoon. Sprinkle over your youthful exuberance, turn up the heat and prepare yourself for a spicy start. And so it came to be. Danny Lewis' tactical nous and calm preparations ensured BOE were set up correctly and they troubled the opposition from the off. The young inside forwards came of age providing good movement off the ball and great link up play when on it. Notable for this in particular was debutant Will Tate. The back line were assured in possession and this provided the platform for effective distribution. The first goal came via the stick of James Goldsmith after a flowing move from defence. The second goal resulted from sharp passes that reached the forward line early and fine overlapping runs from midfield. A text book pass to the far post found a diving Ali Basham on hand to deflect the ball into the net. A rousing cheer from BOE's support (thank you remaining 2nd XI and solitary 1st XI member) spoke volumes about the quality of the execution. 2-0 at half time perhaps not just reward for the teams endeavours but such was BOE's superiority and so resolute was keeper Antony Sturgess that BOE's profligacy in front of goal went unpunished. The second half continued in the same vein. Full credit to the BOE midfield for maintaining their discipline, work rate and quality of pass to ensure the team never really lost the momentum despite the opposition stepping up a gear. Another fast break up the middle of the pitch saw BOE scythe their way through the opposition defence and create an easy chance slotted away calmly by James Hatcher. A very fine performance that had the team buzzing with excitement and satisfaction. BOE provided the recipe for success and swept the Burnt Ash from our hearth.
