Blackheath L1 5-0 Crostyx 2

BEHC Ladies 1st team were determined not to let the England’s Rugby World Cup score dampen their spirits, even if the weather had other ideas!

The game started well with fast accurate passing and plenty of attacks in to Crostyx’s ‘D’. This style of play continued throughout the match as Blackheath continued to get to grips with, and thrive in their new formation. The great start to the match was soon rewarded after Jilly slotted home a goal to give Blackheath a 1-0 lead. A second goal followed fairly quickly and saw a Kate Peth short corner strike absolutely blasted in to the goal. The keeper got a touch but the pace was too much as it flew of the pads in to the net. 2-0 at half time to the home team.

Praise from coach Jade at half-time led him to tweak the formation to give the team an even more attacking set-up. What followed were a series of perfect passes involving most of the team, linking brilliantly down the pitch with Emma L getting the final touch needed to ensure a great Hannah Brown shot made it over the line 3-0. Great consistency from Blackheath continued and this time resulted in a goal from Sue Moore who worked well with Emma to secure the home team’s fourth goal.

The support of the Brown parents surely played a role in the final goal, scored by Charlie, who was perfectly positioned on the P-Spot to slot the fifth and final goal home. Charlie was this week’s MOM and DOD was Banksy for enthusiastically continuing play even when she wasn’t on the pitch (although Banksy will tell you a different story). A great team performance that really clicked this week sees Blackheath Elthamians Ladies 1st Team comfortably in the top half of the table.
