Excellent defending by Tilly Stafford and Lyra Couper ensured Blackheath's under-10s left Canterbury with their heads held high in the latest triangular.
The duo repelled repeated attacks throughout all five of their matches as the side nicknamed 'Bobs' for the day ended with three scoreless draws, one 1-0 defeat and one 1-0 win.
First up was hosts Canterbury, who scored late to seal a 1-0 win. Then it was the two sides from Tunbridge Wells. In the first it Tilly and Lyra were ably assisted by the midfield trio of Samantha Viol-Petrie, Alexandra Andreeva and Shyla Kamat. Shyla, notably grew in stature as the tournament went on. And despite repeated attacks, Blackheath held out to claim a creditable 0-0 draw.
The result seemed to inspire Blackheath and the next Tunbridge Wells side were fortunate to escape defeat with Sophia Andreeva going close.
Next up was Blackheath v Blackheath, with the 'Bobs' winning 1-0.
The final game saw Blackheath face Burnt Ash. With no substitutes, Blackheath were now notably tiring. But from somewhere Lyra and Tilly managed to find some extra resolve and repeatedly they repulsed the Burnt Ash onslaught. It ended 0-0.
