How does one get warm on a cold, dark, Saturday evening in January? One challenges the top of division Marden Russets, with their 12-point lead and Team GB confidence, to a fair and just match. And whilst BEs were warming up to give that equitable challenge in the first half, MR scored four, well-spaced goals, despite BEs superb goalie Alexa, doing an amazing job at diligently rebuffing several potentials. Start of second half saw Nuli rise like Frodo with the Ring-now here, now there, defending like an army, then attacking like an Orc, encouraging her team to do likewise. This caused a sea-change in BEs increasingly impactful effort, culminating in a beautiful piece of fiery desire, belief and a goal cracked in by Ita. A few more could have followed as MR were now all a thither and BEs all aflame, but night fell like the mercury.
Alexa played an amazing shift as goalie with the mostie, keeping MR down amongst single figures. Player of the Match went to Nuli for an astonishing display of skill, desire and fitness.
