Its always nice to see old faces, especially Mr Couves and Mr Bartlett........and the other Mr Couves.....and, well there was lots of them and a first match on CM for young Couves, good times.
Their game was fast paced and lively. Both sides gave it a good go and the youthful Mid Sussex team gave it everything in pursuit of something glorious. The first half was a good old ding dong as possession ebbed and flowed between the sides. Mid's would take the lead off a well worked short corner and leave BEHC the task of winning from a losing position, a much needed task. BE did find some chances in the final 3rd with the Mid's GK making some smart saves, but the goal would evade them, 0-1 at HT.
A call for quicker passing, more communication and more work rate enabled BEHC to get back into the game as Archie polished off a swift move as he wrong footed the GK and slotted the equaliser 1-1. BE looked to get on the front foot but Mids were always dangerous. More pressure and a succession of SC's saw BE have chances but it wasn't until Oli Ivans finished off a flowing move, orchestrated by Henry Baines, that put BE ahead and wrapped up a good win.
Both sides could have scored more, they didn't. A good run around for all and best of luck to both teams for the up and coming season!
