BEHC Youngster steals the headlines with 'Top Bins' cracker to seal the deal..........

Sachin Tendulakar, Lionel Messi, Shane Williams................just a few diminutive figures to grace and dominate the world stage........We have our own, Will 'Lionel' Leverton...............I will return to that later...........

For the most part it was a case of when, not how BEHC would secure the 3 points, no disrespect to our opponents, we just had a good day, played well and looked in decent form, however, our own final pass and the away keepers excellence saw this turn into a real nail biter.

Early exchanges saw BE have most of the play, plenty of balls into the D but not much doing. In fact, it was Eastbourne who so nearly took the lead with a superb short corner, saved fantastically by James Craigmyle. BE kept rattling forward and eventually broke the dead lock when an erroneous stick in the D saw BE given a stroke, The Skipper did the rest........1-0.

Eastbourne rallied and showed some lovely touches around the park, linking up with some 1-2's and forcing another corner. However it was a long corner and some sloppy play from BE that allowed 3 deflections in the D to end up in the goal, 1- 1 and half time came calling.

The second half was much the same, plenty of BE ball, very disciplined from Eastbourne and not much to show for it from the home side. There was a lot of cards for silly fouls, but this never made us pay, although Eastbourne had a few short corners where they still looked threatening.

Then the moment struck, as the clock ticked towards the 70th minute and a frustrating point for the home side, up stepped Will. A ball into the D, a lovely touch from Rikki (What he was doing there we will never know) and the ball bobbled up at knee height..........in the shake of a rats tail, the ball was upright baseball batted into the top corner with ferocious pace, the crowd went silent and then broke into the most furious roar......hugs, sticks, water bottles everywhere.......and in amongst the cauldron of hugging was little Will................WHAT A MOMENT

2-1, 3 points and top of the league (Till everyone else played in the afternoon), still, 6 points from 6 and off to a flyer.
