2s take it all on the coast

After a quick and smelly change ( apologies Again for not washing my kit #tactics ) we were ready to get out into the brisk winter sun.

BE took charge from the off and took comfort in the fact the home team decided to go half court , the ball was sticky under stick but as the boys adjusted the ball soon started spreading like a knob of lurpak melting on a hot plate of .. flapjacks .

As we started to transfer the ball and use the midfield in space to advantage opportunities opened up which was helped by the 3 lads up top doing a lot of hard running , then the breakthrough came with a smart move starting from the back creating an opportunity in the D - foot found - corner given - Clarkey slots mid right off keepers hand pad ( in Clarkeys mind this went top bins ) 1-0.

20 minutes gone and the home team started to come at us. However, the press forced them to play the long ball with minimal effect and when it did land despite their front youngsters having some quite exceptional dribble it was nothing Hughes and cheeky slap Patel couldn’t handle ( the less said about G the better).

The long ball allowed BE to break and win yet another corner , Clarkey this time choosing to slot it bottom left - very well taken 2-0.

Now 2-0 up with 10 mins to go your thinking tidy sew it up for the half . Let’s just say no one is quite sure what happened to the team for those 10 minutes , and we have vowed to never speak of it again . 2 short corners , 2 goals, half time 2-2 .

Second half we had to come out with grit and not be set back , both teams were tentative and there was some end to end movements but clearly neither team wanted to budge .

15 mins to go and Clarkey goes on a mazey run skipping past 4 lads like they were not even there gets to the baseline cuts back, only to be completely bulldozed over a lad (who clearly had one too many mince pies over Christmas ) but somehow finds Thorogood at the back post goal, yellow card (steamroller) , Erection ( Clarkey over getting a player sent off ) 3-2 10 minutes to go .

BE 2s of old would have crumbled under the pressure 3-2 away in the past but not on this day , game management saw the team recognise that we didn’t need to do anything special but slow the game down and control the game - 3-2 3 points !
