After the week before the 3s were in confident mood, but they made hard work of this one.
A win is a win is a win, but this one was a slightly disappointing one. Nevertheless, it was a win, and there were a lot of positives to be taken from this one. Mainly defensive positives, as once again the 3s (perhaps unlike last year) look very solid defensively.
Sam Hannon was forced into a couple of saves, but on the whole the 3s had the upper hand for most of the match, and will rue the fact that they didn't score enough of their chances. That said, the skipper popped up with a goal early into the second half, which settled the fixture, and there were some excellent performances on the pitch. Highlighted with the man of the match award going to Will Tate, who was a constant threat and if we would have had some end product would have had at least 3 or 4 assists.
Happy, but not delighted.
Season starts next week.
