MATCH REPORT: DAVID FORSYTH
With the sun shining at The Meadow, a new look 3rd XI took to the field for the first of their pre-season games against Burnt Ash.
With Chairman Wilde unavailable, Derwyn Baillie stepped into the vacant captaincy role. Making their debuts were Gurpreet Purewal and Sam Devine with Paul W from the 5’s stepping up as a last minute sub.
Archie picked up the first DoD of the season with ease as he arrived seconds before the whistle, then quickly made amends with 2 cracking first half goals, providing a threat the 3’s have been missing for a while. Morrison added two fine goals from midfield, with his mate Sam scoring on his debut for Blackheath. The 6th goal was a thunderous strike from a short, Gurpreet smashing home from the top of the D to hand another debut goal to the mix.
With the backline of Harris, Bailie, Earnshaw and Golbey and with Viktor making some crucial stops in goal we looked solid when we kept it simple. Only conceding from an unavoidable flick and a goal right at the start of the 2nd half when the rest of us hadn’t switched on.
MOTM –Morrie – 2 cracking goals and a great performance
DoD – Archie – being late
Special mentions:
• Golbey for lasting 25 minutes. More than usual.
• Paul W for stepping in at left back with ease and setting up at least one of the goals
• Harris and Forsyth for modelling the brand new BOE club kit (available in stores now!)
