A superb result from an excellent performance is the least the boys deserved for such a tough and unfortunate season

It's hard to put into words how this victory felt. After not winning for so long, a win was needed, and against the bottom side in the league, not only was it needed it was crucial. Not only did the threes win this one, they won it huge!

In fact, there were so many goals, it's hard to remember (maybe this is down to the Cheese and Wine night and Chris Brown keeping me very well topped up) the exact order on how it all went, but I'll try to give it a go.

It was a truly dominant display, and I think there is a slight element of disappointment that it wasn't a few more. The first goal came from Luke "PICK THAT OUT" Kellaher. I'd like to say it was a wonderful reverse strike. It was a very good reverse hit actually, but the keeper should not have let it past him at the near post, somehow he did though, and the threes took a well deserved lead after some early pressure.

It was two shortly after, Chris Brown making some nice moves at the top of the D from a short corner before calmly stroking the ball in. Three shortly after that after a neat finish from the form man Nick Surry, and four a few minutes later with the recently recalled James Hatcher.

So, four nil at half time. Good, but we always felt like if they got one back, they could really come back into it. If you recall the match earlier this season, they managed to recover a deficit in the match at CM, so we were wary that if they got the first goal, then it would be a bit shaky.

To be honest, we were a bit shaky at the start of the second half as well. And Burnt Ash did have a few chances after a few lapses in judgement across the back 4. Victor Lanckriet in the threes goal made some very important saves to keep it all nicely comfortable, before the inevitable goals started to go in at the other end. Perhaps a better team would have punished us, but they didn't and the threes would push on.

Our young junior Ben Heggarty got the goal that would kill the game, and then two more would follow in quick succession. Nick Surry getting a second which clinched him the MoM, and indeed player of the month for Febraury, and then me! Yes me. I scored. Martin Harris with the final goal to make the scoreline a bit embarrassing.

What pleased me most about this display was that we kept going. Even at four nil, we wanted more. We were hungry for that win, and that performance. We did the simple things well. We passed the ball, and we ran our socks off. Against these older guys that counts for a lot, and indeed we ran them into the ground a little bit. Ben, Nick and David C were amazing at doing that. I also thought that David Broughton in the midfield had his best game since coming into the side, and dominated the play in the middle of the park.

We won't mention Thomas Cleall's needless yellow card at the end because that rather took the shine off what was a great display from all of the players, and a well deserved win.

We have more winnable games to come as well, so let's build this momentum.

A very proud skipper
