Only 11 ventured to Ashford to play the league leaders. Shirts had been forgotten and the was weather inclement, Raf very reluctantly handed over his second layer, the infamous shirt that delayed his arrival only 2 weeks ago, and finally we would all wear the same colour.
The game started as an even contest, however Ashford slowly managed to exert some control and kept possession very well before carving out the opening goal. Blackheath created chances of their own and some inspired saves from the Ashford keeper kept them in front. Golbey deflected a chance agonisingly wide and Ashford popped up at the other end to claim their second before half time.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first half. Ashford had the greater share of the ball, but both sides were creating chances. As Blackheath were coming into the game more Ashford managed to score 2 goals on the counter to put the game to bed. Blackheath scored a great goal of their own by connecting a few passes and getting the ball to the dancing Archie who span a couple of times before pushing the ball into the goal.
Ashford had the final say with another goal at the end, but Blackheath can take some positives from how they carried on fighting against a very well drilled side.
