Crazy start to the season as 3’s rally to come back from 4-0 down!!!

As the 2020/21 season opened, a mouthwatering trip to T Wells lay before us! The 2.30pm on BT Sport 7HD VHS did not disappoint!

Early exchanges were fractious as a keen T Wells zipped the ball about, turning their men and getting up the pitch, but much like the rest of the first 10 minutes, attacks at both ends were coming to nothing. A double slice of luck saw a ball deflect across the D and then the loose forward at the far post did a reverse, no flick mega touch that wrong footed even the kids in the near by play ground. 0-1. Luck continued to evade us as a broken down PC saw T Wells go 2-0 up with a flick to the upper 90.

A brief rest bite for the BEHC boys saw Adam and Ben get a grip of the midfield but we just couldn’t link with Marly, Edd, Josh and Nick up top, it’s was coming, but not quite there. Then a missed PC resulted in a few ball to the T Wells forward, he held it up and as 7 BEHC defenders ran at him like a octogenarian waving away local youths, the free man at the far post tapped in.

0-3, half time and a rallying call from Skipper Adam Anchelotti. Look after the ball and carry on as we are, we will bury these guys......

3-0 down at HT is hard to imagine a come back. Throw in a deflected PC off Herr Meier after a slightly dubious award of the corner. We waited 11 minutes to get the VAR from the umpires wife at deep square leg, she agreed, 0-4. How????? HOW????

Enter Josh Hutch. The boy has done everything you could ever ask of a lad. Dropped in the week, brought back after Archie was recalled to the set of his latest classical jazz music video, he showed exactly why he is worth, turning on a 6 pence to reverse cowabunga flick the ball home in a crowded D. 30 seconds later, Harvey ‘Mick, Moves like’ Jagger was on hand to tap in a Mulvanny slide rule pass that brought back memories of Lee Carsley.

Game on.

T Wells were hardly getting a touch, we pressed so well, we turned them over and every time they got out, Freddie, Kris, Crispin and Riki Tilkkkiii we’re transferring like Frank Lampard player recruitment. Ben Scott to Sammy Little, Sam drop pass to the skipper, skipper back inside to Rikki, naaaaaaaaaaaatie slapppppp, Sam Little power reverse deflecco, CHA-CHING!!!$$$$ Dollar signs everywhere, 3-4........Come on Divok, let’s go, lets go......

Corner taken quickly (it actually was!!) another naaaaaatie slap, saved, Josh (Origiiiiiiiii) Hutchings on the guided tomma......4-4.....limbs everywhere! 30 seconds left.....winner? One last chance, Rikesh.......Not today!!

Fair play the T Wells boys to a man were very complimentary of our performance and were, a decent bunch. Another day could have been all 3 points!

Big hand to Dave Golbey for umpiring!!!

MOTM - Josh ‘Origi’ Hutchings
DOTD - Riki Patel - absolute bottle job kicking the winning opportunity!!
